Hi All,
If I am Exporting Oracle 8i Database to new Oracle10g there is any problem with Oracle block sizes during import ? where as Oracle 10g has defaultly 8kb block size and Oracle 8i has 2kb Block size so it can import 8i database to 10g without any problem or we have to create additional 2kb block size duringthe time of Database creation of Oracle10g.If anybody had these type of problem solved iam very thankful............

Hi,
Export/import is the logical backup tool of Oracle. It doesn't depend upon size of Oracle block. You can import it in to Oracle10g also.
Some times database up gradation also done by using same tool whenever small size of database involved.

Hi Gitesh,
we know that it is a Logical Backup tool but it will work better within the database only if we export & import within the database.but if we export from Oracle 8i database & trying to import on Oracle 10g Database the database block sizes are differant i think that we have to specify the parameters db_2k_cache_size= some size in init parameter file & also create the tablespaces with 2kb block sizes & import the data of 8i.
and Oracle had given the multiple block sizes for this kind of purpose from 2k to 32k.
i want to know that without this parameter how can it is going to import 8i data on 10g ?

When you are exporting using oracle8i export tools and importing database using same tool that time you will get this kind of error. If you are export database using oracle10g and importing using oracle8i import tool that also you will get same type of error.
