 Hi ,
I have faced a issue while importing a dump file that was exported with "direct = y" option using export utility. while importing it throws an error message given below:

IMP-00051: Direct path exported dump file contains illegal column length
IMP-00008: unrecognized statement in the export file:

But when i exported the data without direct=y option. It works
what is the problem with that

Hi,
It's really difficult to get rid of IMP-00051 error. "direct=y" option is buggy. There is no workaround available for this error in eithe net or metalink.

Do not perform DIRECT path export.Use CONVENTIONAL path only.

If size of database is large and you are taking FULL import, then use DIRECT=y. After finishing import process check for which table you got error. and import it without direct option. Direct option is buggy but you will get this error for some particular table only where column is large or extent is large.
