hi friend,
Knowing plsql is a very good thing for DBA.
dont think to study upto some limit,study as much as you can, and become ab expert in plsql.

AS a DBA some time you need to create some custom report or insert/update/delete data for tables according to business logic ...
You can do this by writing programs (mostly developer's job but good dba have also know that :) )
otherwise you can use pl/sql (its a programming language for DBA people :) )
