In RAC Environment,You can have multiple Instance running on one database. And Eaxh instance have their own listener so you can have multiple listener.

RAC in simple terms...It's Oracle Database running on multiple servers and each server have one instance and listener.

Without RAC you can have multiple instance in a single server !
you have to set unique SID for each oracle instance and when you connect that instance you need to use the SID

and again you can install different version of oracle (say 9i & 10g) in a single matchine......... :(

Hi Hasan,

We can have Multiple Database running on single server. But for each database we can have maximum one instance only.
