If you want to acces the database server from the client machine THROUGH ANY APPLICATION you need the oracle client.
Then you have to configure the linster and the tns.ora file.
then try to connect.Other wise plese describe for what purpose you want to acces the database server ?

Hi,

You need to install Oracle Database on server and on every client(desktop) you need to install Oracle client. In Oracle client you can set TNS so you can connect to Oracle Database.

So First start your task with installation of Oracle Database on IBM server...
