Oracle Apps, 11.5.10.2
How can I print Oracle report? When I try to print an Oracle report from View output, it only prints a screenshot rather than the entire report.
Printers are already installed on the server side. Oracle Apps default printer can also be viewed from the View Output options. |

Printing Oracle Reports “Outside” of the Oracle Applications:
Have you ever wanted to:
• Print just a single page of an Oracle report?
• Print a range of pages that reside within a multi-page Oracle report?
• Print an Oracle report when none of the printers (near you) have been defined
within the Oracle Applications?
If so, I think you’ll find the following tip quite useful:
1. When viewing report output (View ! Requests menu, Find button, place your cursor on
the row of the report that you want to view, View Output button) using the standard
Oracle Report Viewer, select Tools ! Copy File menu to open the report in a web
browser (such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer).
a.) If a browser automatically opened when you clicked on the View Output button
from within the Requests form, you don't need to access the Tools ! Copy File menu.
b.) On a recurring basis, if you would rather view requests using a browser, rather
than the standard Oracle Report Viewer, set the profile option "Viewer: Text" (rel
11i & 11) or “Editor: Character” (rel 10.7) to “browser” at the user level.
2. Within the Browser, select the text that you want to print by holding down your left
mouse button and dragging the cursor over the desired text. If you want to select the
entire report, press Ctrl + A.
3. Within the Browser, press Ctrl + C (this command copies the selected text to the
Clipboard).
4. Open Microsoft Word
5. Within MS Word, press Ctrl + V (this command pastes the contents of the Clipboard into
MS Word)
6. Within MS Word, if the text isn’t already highlighted, press Ctrl + A (this command
selects all of the text within MS Word).
7. Within MS Word:
a.) Change the Font to Courier New and Font size to 7 (Format ! Font, in the Font
box, type Courier New & in the (Font) Size box, type 7).
b.) Change the Top & Bottom margins to .6 and the Left & Right margins to .4 (File
! Page Setup: Margins Tab).
c.) Change the Orientation to landscape (File ! Page Setup: Paper Size Tab).
8. Within MS Word, print the report to the (network/local) printer of your choice (File !
Print).
That’s it, now the report prints just like it would as if you printed it directly from
within the Oracle Applications. This tip will work using either Netscape or Internet
Explorer browsers. I’ve used this technique to print reports using versions 11i, 11 and
10.7 NCA of the Oracle Applications. All Oracle menu paths listed in this tip are from
within the 11i version of the Oracle Apps. The version of MS Word that I’ve used this
technique with is Word 2000 (9.0.2720).
