I have two database in windows and linux RHEL5 platform .
1) TESTDB : in windows platform
2) ORCL : in Linux platform |

Export is the logical backup. It is not dependent on operating system. We can take export of database on any platform and import on any platform.In your case you can take export from linux and import in windows or reverse.

Can u plz tell which types of information does an EXPORT holds ?
Does it take datafile, controlfile backup ? or other else ?
And also plz tell me what is metadata ?
