Hello,
I have a question – what is the largest number of oracle databases run on a Sun Fire E2900 server, with 24 1.35GHz processors and 48GB of memory. These processors are Sun's new dual-threaded CPUs, sometimes called dual-core. Each oracle database will have average of 512 MB SGA and average 800 processes. Only oracle will be running on the server, no other applications.
Please share your thoughts and experience.
Any answer is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Alla

Hi
As a general Thumb rule, there is no limit on number of instances on any server. As long as sga allocated is less to the memory available on the server, it is fine. Only thing you should be cautions is about "Keeping all eggs in one basket"
