Hi ,
In listener.ora file the SID=' ' value is mandatory or optional.
it is 24/7 production.

hi,
Entry in the listener.ora is MANDATORY because there are two options:
1. Your database and the OS may be on the same machine/server.
2. Both may be on different machines.
So, in order to send/receive data this SID Id must be provided.
