if u r using 10g ;then while installing u had given a password ;that password is for initializing SYS & there was also option where you could change the password of default USER NAME .thus, i suggest u to install ur
ORACLE again.

try creating a user at operating system level and assign him to sysdba group.Default value is dba in unix/linux.Try connecting with that user.This may work.
