hi,
oracle 9i, OS linux 9
1.how can i apply a particular archive log on a database? i dont want to apply all my archive logs.
also i dont know the last SCN. what should i do in that situation?
2.how to do archiving on remote location?
any prompt response and help will b highly appreciated.

Why you need to apply archive log to database? Do you performing any recovery?
Map network/remote destination to your server and put same location in to log_archive_dest_2='LOCATION=/mapped_remote_location'
Archive will be generating in remote location also.

hi,
yes i m performing recovery, but i nned to apply one perticular archive log.
pz give me one example of how to performing mapping?
for example host full name is localhost.localdomain of my machine and remote locations machine name is xyz.
