I am installing oracle in linux m/c . i am setting kernel parameters ? it is mandatory or not?

yes, it is sometime mandatory otherwise oracle doesn't get installed. you have to set SHMMAX, SHMMNI, SHMALL etc parameters in sysctl.conf file to get oracle installed on linux.
