I got a question for all you seasoned DBAs. I've worked in Microsoft and Mac for most of my career. I've been a webmaster, tech writer, and I've got my MCSE. I've been laid off a few times and now I'm working on a helpdesk at a defense contractor. I have a chance to move to a DBA position but I don't have enough Oracle experience. I've been frustrated with the way my career is headed and this looks like a good opportunity if I can learn Oracle fast enough. Everything I've studied about Oracle seems so logical and straight forward...nice! Are there any DBAs that are stressed and hate their jobs like me? LOL... Seriously, how does the DBA life compare to a network and Web-based life?

Not a problem...
Start learning Oracle database concept. For DBA you would need some real time experience. Oracle looks straight in reading not really when you work.

Post your issues if have any.

Best of luck!

Regards,
Puneet

Thanks for the timely response Puneet! I've already been taught how to backup and restore because our DBA is moving on. I found it confusing at first and much diffent than Microsoft Access, but I'm catching on. I have a chance to do more than that. I can telnet to an Oracle server and I have plenty of documentation to study. It's good to know that I can come here for help too. :D
