I have a little doubt about a password.
This is how my doubts is and please help me to brush this doubt out.
When i was in school learning Oracle we were used to operate oracle using the priveldges of the SYS since every time execute execute for SQLPLUS command prompt interface we just entered as follows
"/as sysdba"
and we are in. Now how can you protect someone from performing administrative jobs with a SYS priviledge. I mean, we are supposed to enter a password for protection like as we do with other user like Scott with password tiger "Scott/Tiger". I might not be understanding well but i need a help to resolve this for me.
Please give me a step by step procedure to remove these doubt. I mainly concentrate on security in oracle database as my best prefered area.

Hi Tony,
As I understand your problem...
If you log in(on O.S) using Oracle or a user who is added in oracle grop then only
you will be able to login as dba using "/as sysdba" command.
Otherwise it will give you error as you dont have priviledges.
