When creating users to use the database, how do they connect to the database. Are they impacted by the password file. I mean, does the password file have an effect to them or what controls their accessibility to the database?

no the password filehave no effect on users. they influenced by how they set: 1. by os authentication
2. by network authentication
3. by oracle authentication.

Password file keeps the entries for dba users only not for the end user.
