It's "snapshot too old" , not the "snapshot to old"..
Well it's error returned when the rollback segment or the undo tablespace is not sized properly..
When one query is running to get some data, and other query changes it's value, in that case oracle uses the data in undo or rollback segment to provide "read consistent" view of that data.
If that undo or rollback segment is not sized properly, that data might be overwritten , which is still required by oracle to provide read consistent view. In such situation the oracle returns the error-
ORA-01555: Snapshot too old message.
