Hi All,
Please let me know if there is a mechanism to increase the length of a column alias in a query.
Right now the maximum length permissible is 30 chars.
eg: SQL> select 1 as "this column alias length is supposed to be greater than 30 characters" from dual;
select 1 as "this column alias length is supposed to be greater than 30 characters" from dual
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00972: identifier is too long
returns the above error with an alias >30 chars. How to increase this limit?
Looking forward to your suggestions.
Regards,
Srimayee.

Use SQL*Plus column command to get the required result as:
column a heading "This string is supposed to be 30 characters long"
select 1 a from dual;
