It has been my experience that Oracle Certification is not really worth a damn. 7 years ago I passed the certification exams for Oracle 7.3. I later retook the track for 8i.
But after working 4 years as a DBA, I have found this to be a losing career path. IT work is still hard to come by and even many of those who work in technology overlook qualified workers because they trust the judgement of their HR people over that of their own.
Ironically, I would bet that most HR personnel don't even realize that DBA even means Database Administrator.
Hell even most IT people still think it is probably better to find somebody who has worked one year with Oracle 10g than someone who has 9 years with versions from 7.3 to 9i.
The only way I could see this working out is if Oracle could provide a service whereby companies could contact Certified Oracle DBAs, but that will be a cold day in hell I'm afraid. |
