Whats the use of Service or daemon in oracle?
What type of service it will provide?

hi. your question is not clear. but i will try to answer. you must first know what a service is. the oracle instance is a service. the other tools provided with the instance are services. on windows, you can view the services on the configuration panel. on linux, you can fire the >ps command to see the services.

hi,
Sorry, I have one more doubt "If the service is running means the databse is up"
We can start the database with theseoptions nomount,mount,open,force.
But if we specify
STARTUP OPEN;
it will give error. means service is not up;
a) then whats the use of these 4 options when there is service to up the database?
b) Whats the difference between this 4 options and service?
c) i am not understanding the use of this service and what type of service it is providing;
