When ever we loose all the control files? how is it possible to recover the database ?
When we start the database in nomount mode, the oracle reads from the pfile or spfile. But by specifying the create control file command how it is getting the loction of the redo log files and the data files ?
Please let me know this answer. |

For recovering database u can
Start the database in NOMOUNT mode and Create the control file using command CREATE CONTROLFILE statement, specifying the NORESETLOGS option ,Recover the database as normal and then open database

Thanks for ur replies! Also i want to know about the following questions
What is the option 'NORESETLOGS' used for ?
Also my doubt is how does the control file is getting recreated exactly in the state as it was before it was lost. How does it get all the checkpoint and header information exactly as it was before together with the location of redologs and datafiles.
Please explain on this.
