Mainly Oracle Databases are run on Unix platform. So get a fair aquintenance with unix flavour is good, Mainly dba's create database, tune the database, go for daily health checking etc. And it depend on the organization what type of backup it would go like cold backup, hot backup, backup through Rman or with cron entries etc.
