Hi All.
Am curious of how one migrates from one database version to the other, Like 9i to 10g. Suppose you are using oracle 9i for 5 years then you decide to migrate to oracle 10g or higher. You dont want to loose any data from the previous database. How is this done. i've never done before and i need a guidance.

You apply patches and restart the instance.

Go to metalink site.
download patchset for Oracle 9i to 10g upgrade.
with patchset README.txt file is comes ...open that file and follow their instruction.
