We are recently upgraded our J2EE application from Oracle 9i to 10g version (both application server version 10.1.3 and database version 10.2.0.2).
Once it is upgraded to 10g version we are facing the problem with the OC4J container after some amount of the time the container is getting restarted automatically. After monitoring the data base and container we found that the database connections are getting increased and causing the container to restart. As part of upgrade we have carry forwarded the 9i version setting to 10g and more over there is not change in the user load pattern. We are wondering what causing the problem to DB connections increase? Have any one faced this sort of problem? Since this is a production problem quick response will be appreciated.

We are not able to simulate this problem in the test environment? In our production stack there is a firewall between application server and data base.
Please let us know if you required any more information.

Hi,

After upgrading to 10g in many of the db's the number of inactive sessions from "JDBC-1.0-Client" had increased in the past.If this is really causing an issue then idle connection timeout can be given in sqlnet.ora (most of the applications won't recommend this ).

Thanks & Regards,
Vinod

Why dont you try creating a profile and restrict idle sessions.
