DBAs,
I am running into problems with different uids for oracle user on two different machines. I made change for one of the user's uid but it didn't change.
Does system cache the uid? if yes, how do I refresh it.
Your help is appreciated.
Frank

Hi,
make sure that the users lines in /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow (to have the same password), /etc/groups are exactly the same (as root user). Then make sure /home dirs (and other like orahome) have the right permissions.
Change them using
# chown -R oracle:dba /home/oracle --if of cource user is named oracle and have that home dir, just an ex.
Then logout/login againg as oracle user and it should now have the correct uid/gid. Test by
$ id -a
Regards
M
