Hi,
I have attempted to install Oracle 9i on various Win XP Professional SP2 PC's without any luck. The install will only get as far 33% and will stay at that point. The installation does not hang. If the installation is then cancelled the user cannot then log back into the PC |

Have you installed latest patch from microsoft on XP?

Hi,
Thanks for getting back. I have the system fully updated and was doing the install as a network admin on the PC in question. An admin account is now the only one which can access the PC. There must be some sort of conflict between XP and Oracle 9i. It's strange though that I have'nt seen this reported on any forums.

Are you able to install Oracle sucessfully ?
If yes,then this problem might be windows administration related problem.

No the oracle install never gets past 33%. It takes only a few secs to get that far and then just sits there. I checked the task manager and can see that the CPU level is low and the process and application is not hanging. When I eventually give up and cancel the install the problem kicks in. I have left the install running for over 24 hrs without any movement.

During installation..select "complete" option to avoid any conflicts

That did'nt work unfortunately, the same thing happens no matter what install type I select, with or without service pack 2.

I was having this exact issue tonight. The installer would hang at 33% After I exited the failed install, i was having many problems with winders.
I removed reg key HKLM\Software\Oracle and was able to complete the install.
