Hi everyone,
I have a file .bak, and now I want to restore into a new database.
I did as below and unsuccessed :)
1. connect to RMAN
2. RMAN> configure channel 1 device type disk format
'/oradata/db1.BAK';
3.RMAN>restore database.
allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: sid=12 devtype=DISK
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03002: failure of restore command at 03/04/2005 15:24:32
RMAN-06026: some targets not found - aborting restore
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 11 found to restore
.....
pls help me, what'wrong and how to do it

Hi,
As per what I think , the new db that you want to create is not registered with the rman so when the db is not registered, how can it restore? You can recover a database that is registred with rman. Here I guess you are trying to create a new database with the help of rman, which is a totally different operation.
-just my opinion...
