I have a problem in oracle 8i. While restarting PC database services shows 'starting' instead of 'started'
and while connecting to database it says 'oracle not found'
Kindly tell me where is the problem.
I am told that memory related parameters in init.ora are to be changed. kindly specify Which parameters values are to be changed.
Thnks

It indicates that your oracle is not starting due to configuration issue. Check your CPU and MEMORY usages and see where they stand.
If there is a problem, then try to reduce number of processes, shared pool area and db block buffer etc.
Hope it helps.
