Hi All,
I had a database on one partition and oracle installation on another partition. The partition containing the OS/Oracle crashed and had to be formatted, as the database files including the control files, redo files, and pfile were on other partition they were saved. After the new installation i had created a new service for the DB with the same as before but it does not allow me to connect to the DB, it gives me the following error:
ORA-01031: Insufficient privileges
some body help please......

No Worries !! your datafiles and controlfile are in a safe location ,you could Install software and create a service .Insufficient privs is most likely due to os authentication prob .Check for os_authent_prefix parameter and add you windows is to osdba group .
